WHAT YOU WILL FIND

From global adoption
to work in the field.

Applications throughout the growing season

The report brings together examples of spraying, seed and fertiliser spreading, and material transport. Choosing a drone starts with the task, crop and access conditions.

Chapter IV · pp. 38–63

Trials and technical validation

Reading the trials helps explain why application rate, droplets, height, speed and crop characteristics should be assessed together. A trial result is not a guarantee for another farm.

Chapter III · pp. 24–35

Training and continuity

Operator preparation, responding to unexpected situations and maintenance are part of the good practices described. Technology is supported by knowledge and working procedures.

Chapter V · pp. 64–67

INTERNATIONAL EXAMPLES FROM THE REPORT

Different crops.
Specific challenges.

Pasture and irregular plots

The Marabá case in Brazil describes combining drones with other agricultural equipment for seeding and targeted interventions. It highlights access to plots and the organisation of work throughout the growing season.

Section 4.2.1 · pp. 44–48

Hillside citrus orchards

The citrus examples address difficulties with mechanisation and labour availability. Spraying, spreading and transport are analysed as separate tasks, each with its own requirements.

Section 4.2.2 · pp. 49–54

Agricultural logistics

Transporting fruit, bamboo and plants on hard-to-access terrain shows how logistics can inform equipment selection and operational preparation.

Section 4.3 · pp. 55–63

ADN editorial summaries based on the DJI report. These are international examples, not ADN customer cases or promises of performance. Application in Portugal requires assessment of local conditions and applicable requirements.

What to take into your decision.

Start with the application

Identify the crop, area, terrain, material to be distributed and working windows. These factors guide platform selection.

Plan the whole system

Consider batteries, charging, supplies, transport and team. Tank capacity is only one part of the operation.

Plan your power supply ↗

Prepare the operators

Include familiarisation, checks, maintenance and practical training in the implementation plan.

Explore training ↗

The chapter on regulatory trends is international in scope and reflects its publication date. It does not replace current information from Portuguese authorities.
